As per the order, NBCC will build nine Mahatma Gandhi Convention Centres (MGCC) in African nations in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitment to raise the level of support for the vision of a prosperous, integrated and United Africa.

NBCC already has offices in Oman, Maldives, Turkey, Mauritius and Botswana. It has executed many diverse projects over the past 37 years in Mauritius, Nepal, Maldives, Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Turkey and Botswana.

While executing these projects, NBCC plans to scout for further business in these countries. At the same time, building convention centres in overseas locations will enable Indian engineers and other employees posted there to get acquainted with modern construction technologies.

Recently, NBCC secured projects at Mauritius which comprise construction of the new Supreme Court building valuing Rs 250 crore and 956 social housing units worth Rs 300 crore. Some other notable projects successfully completed earlier include a 200-bed Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Maldives, a 3,600 units Meer Housing Project in Turkey and Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture in Mauritius.

DIVERSIFIES INTO HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION

NBCC’s execution of border fencing along Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pak border has majorly contributed in securing India’s international boundaries. NBCC has also been involved in development of roads in remote and terror-infested areas under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura and Odisha. This has helped in promoting trade and benefitted the regional economy.

Dr. Anoop Kumar Mittal, Chairman Cum Managing Director, said, “NBCC is always scouting for growth opportunities in existing and new sectors. With the present Government’s thrust towards roads and highways construction, we foresee immense opportunities in this space.”

The Kotdwar-Ramnagar Kandi road, passing through the Jim Corbett National Park, Garhwal and Kumaon Mandals, will be interconnected and the distance of Kotdwar, Kalagarh and Ramnagar from Dehradun will be greatly reduced. The challenging aspect of the project is the road stretch traversing through the National Park, requiring an ecological balance of ‘development with conservation’. Focusing on the environment and wildlife preservation, the company will be executing the work by adopting green initiatives.

NBCC : WHERE ACCOUNTABILITY REALLY MATTERS

Dr. Anoop Kumar Mittal

Accountability and ownership is ingrained in the NBCC TEAM before any project is taken up. It is the ability of the team to understand what is expected of them and deliver as per international standards and protocols, at the same time also incorporating the technological advancements.

I have no doubt that TEAM NBCC play important roles in reducing costs and increasing efficiency while creating infrastructure for NEW INDIA.

NBCC always endeavours to deliver its projects within the stipulated timeline. To meet all the project execution timelines, to keep a track record of its status, we adopt certain fundamental practices such as up gradation of technologies and constant monitoring of the projects. In addition, we have a Project Management Group that gathers daily updates and maintains records of status of projects. We have created a very step-by-step procedure of going about project activities which is clearly evident by the quality of projects that we deliver.

With the current Government’s focus on infrastructure growth, we firmly believe that NBCC has a huge opportunity to attain robust growth. The company is all geared up to make a huge leap forward by involving itself in the various business activities. This year we have achieved key milestones that help us to ensure sustainable infrastructure development of the country in years ahead. The company’s initiatives during the year, which include, higher capacity utilization, cost reduction measures and impetus to high-value projects, are expected to propel the Company on a growth trajectory in the coming quarters. WTC is one of the most prestigious projects for NBCC. It will change the skyline of New Delhi. We will complete the project within two to three years and minimise impact on the environment as the construction progresses.

Transition to GST, implementation of RERA and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code demonstrate the Government’s will to carry out structural reforms to boost growth and bring in financial prudence and propriety. All these measures along with a faster implementation of supportive policies are likely to be the vital levers of growth in a favourable economic environment and bode well for the future of Indian economy.

It is company’s constant endeavour to scope out newest technologies and embed sustainable solutions to create cost effective, premier quality and environment-friendly infrastructures. Some of the existing technologies we are putting to use include Steel Structures, modular construction, pre-cast pre-fab components, light weight concrete slabs etc. Almost all projects executed by NBCC are in line with the ‘Green Building’ norms and we use energy-efficient equipments. As a public sector enterprise, we are well aware of our responsibility to address the environmental challenges and we take a serious view of the same. One of the finest examples has been the Green Home Campus at New Moti Bagh, New Delhi with integrated process innovation of recycling the treated water. Taking a cue from this successful feat, we have made it mandatory to incorporate features such as Zero Waste, Dual piping, Rain Water Harvesting, Use of Solar Energy, Smart Electricity metering, LED/Energy efficient fixtures etc. in all the current and upcoming projects.

Project Management Consultancy (PMC) segment is our core business segment contributing to almost 85%-90% of the company’s revenue. Company’s PMC business segment includes management and consultancy services for a range of Civil Construction Projects including Residential and Commercial Complexes, Re-development of Colonies, Hospitals, Educational Institutions, Border Fencing as well as Infrastructure Projects such as Roads, etc.

More than merely restricting ourselves to construction activities within its traditional definitions, our vision has been to build and create projects that will stand out as one of its kind in its use of state-of-the art technology and also simultaneously push forth Green Building initiatives.

Adhering to strict timelines is a challenge that NBCC often overcomes and it endeavours to deliver its projects with the deadlines. To meet project execution timelines and keep a track record of its status, we adopt certain fundamental practices such as upgrade of technologies and constant monitoring of the projects. Marching towards the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of a digitized country, we are working extensively on tracking the status of projects via the ERP system on real-time basis. In addition, we have a Project Management Group that gathers daily updates and maintains status records of projects. We have created a step-by-step standard operating procedure of going about project activities which is clearly evident by the quality of projects that we deliver.
