Bhopal I Gangster Vikas Dubey, wanted in the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur’s Bikru village last week, was arrested on Thursday morning from Mahakal temple in Ujjain.UP Police had raised the bounty on gangster Vikas Dubey from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
“When Vikas Dubey reached the temple, he purchased flowers and prasad from a shop. The shopkeeper who had seen him on TV News became suspicious and called up the private security agency at the temple and informed them.” Ujjain’s superintendent of police Manoj Kumar Singh told media at a briefing. “When Vikas Dubey entered in temple, private security guards informed at Police Chowki.” Singh said.
A police constable slapped Vikas Dubey, when Police team took gangster towards a safe place, he shouted, “Main Vikas Dubey hoon, Kanpur wala.”
“It is a great achievement for the Madhya Pradesh Police, Vikas Dubey is a cruel killer. The entire state police force was on alert. He has been arrested from Ujjain Mahakal temple. We have informed Uttar Pradesh Police,” said Narottam Mishra, Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated Ujjain district and state police for taking quick action by arresting Vikas Dubey, a hardened criminal from Uttar Pradesh in Ujjain this morning. Chief Minister Chouhan said that he also had a discussion with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath this morning.
Chief Minister Chouhan informed that the state government is in constant touch with the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The Police of both the state governments are taking necessary steps to hand over the criminal to the Uttar Pradesh police.
